OFFICIAL RULES FOR THE RAPIDCITY PUMPKIN WEIGH-OFF
1. The pumpkin must have been grown and cared for by the exhibitor.
2. There may be no more than two entries per family or physical address.
3. An exhibitor may enter only one specimen per class.
All others will be for exhibition only.
4. Color requirements - to be eligible for the heaviest
pumpkin, the entry must be a minimum of 75% white to
cream-yellow to orange in color. All others will be
considered squash.
5. The specimen must be sound, healthy and undamaged.
Entries must be free of rot, holes/cracks through to the
cavity, chemical residue and serious soft spots.
**Judges will measure and inspect fruits; any hole or crack
will be probed to ensure it does not go into the cavity.
6. No foreign material is permitted to be included in the
weighing. Vines must be trimmed to one inch from the stem
of the fruit. The judges reserve the right to fully inspect each
specimen before the weight is announced and is official.
7. Any specimen previously entered or weighed at any other
National or International competition prior to this
contest is not eligible for competition.
8. In the event of a tie, the prize money will be split equally.
9. The decisions of the judges are final.
