Plants are doing well.  The shade cover has come in very handy for our frequent hail this summer.  Matt and I have fruit set on all plants.  Some warmer nights would sure help with growth.

All plants are now in the patch and all of the garden seeds are in!

We have several extra plants if anyone needs some!
We germinated extra seeds in the event that anyone had germination problems.
Just send us an email at blackhillsgiantpumpkins@yahoo.com
We'll make arrangements to get you some.

Matt started an 869 Calai seed on April 24th.  It's a 10 year old seed, so he thought it would take a week or more to germinate.  He was wrong.  It was up in 3 days and has been in the patch now for almost 3 weeks.  We've got a halogen work light in the hoop house with it.  It is set to come on at 8 pm and off at 8 am.  The plant is doing well considering the snow and freezing weather we have had.  Very few days of sun so far.
All other seeds were filed and soaked on May 8th.  They have all germinated and are in gallon pots ready to go in the patch.  I have started 4 plants: 1658 Young, 1622 Young, 1446.5 Werner, and a 275 VanHook.  The 275 is the same seed I grew last year.  I will plant two plants in each spot and eventually cull down to one in each location.
Sure wish it would get warm and stop raining for a week or so.  It would be great is the rain would pace itself over the whole summer this year!
